ESSENTRA, All Right Resserved.
Holding a steady angle is the hardest part of sharpening a knife on a whetstone, and an uneven angle leaves a dull or patchy edge. This knife sharpening angle guide clips onto the spine of your blade and holds it at 15 degrees as you sharpen. It helps you produce a more consistent edge and reduces uneven wear on the blade. It suits beginners learning to use a whetstone as well as experienced cooks.
The guide has a plastic body with smooth ceramic contact strips that glide across the stone with low friction. It works with 1000 and 3000 grit whetstones as well as most other sharpening stones. At around 100 mm long, it is small enough to store with your stone in a kitchen drawer. Clip it on, sharpen, then slide it off and move to the next knife.
